Evonik Industries said today that due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak, its contract manufacturer had to shut down its production facilities. Both production and shipping of the amino acid ThreAMINO are affected due to limited stock of the material being available.

“Regrettably, we are facing a supply shortage for ThreAMINO®. We have therefore decided to send a force majeure notification to our customers with immediate effect, in accordance with our contracts,” said Emmanuel Auer, head of animal nutrition at Evonik. The company is trying to reestablish supply to customers as fast as possible, he says.
